OCCCNA (Online Course Creators Community For Newbies And Advanced Beginners) celebrates its 2nd year anniversary on 26th October.
I created OCCCNA on 26th October 2020 during COVID-19 lockdown and I didn’t think much of it.
As a trainer, I just wanted a platform where anybody starting out online could join and start learning about everything course creation; and for over 6 months I was the only member of the group “making a fool of myself” as @Dean Grasiosi would say.
It was quite embarrassing though, as no one, even my students in iBMC (Internet Business Mastery Course), seemed to care but I plodded on – with mixed feelings.
Now and then I thought of deleting the group or just abandoning it. Why were they not here? Why didn’t anybody show any interest? The gurus had said “create it, and they will come.” So why are the 3.5 billion people they say log unto Facebook monthly from all over the world not here?; I kept asking myself.
Before long I learnt that there had been a “Google” and “Facebook” slap. I learnt the new law is, if you create it, they would not come. I didn’t get that until much later when Russell Brunson, the founder of #ClickFunnels shared his experience with “Facebook slap.”
I had created iBMC in July of 2020 with 35 students and even after sending several invitations to my students to join OCCCNA; I guess just about 5 joined – maybe, just to appease The Coach – as they didn’t see any direct link between OCCCNA and their success in IBMC as course creators and internet entrepreneurs.
Fast forward October 2022, OCCCNA has about 4,000 members from all over the world, with the majority from India, USA, Philippines and Nigeria.
Technology is indeed a leveler. Technology creates a level-playing field and virtually anybody can join the learning and earning party. Tony Elumelu of TOEWay calls technology “the democratization of luck.” Add coaching and mentoring to the equation and you have a new generation of entrepreneurs creating value at the speed of light.
Thanks to technology, a kid in a remote village in Bende (Abia State in Nigeria), Pune in Maharashtra in India, or Mindanoa in Philippines, can learn and receive coaching lessons directly from billionaires like Tony Elumelu, Richard Branson, and Jack Ma on LinkedIn, YouTube or in a community like OCCCNA.
The technology algorithms, whether search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo! and YouTube, or social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram or TikTok, reward users who are consistent and persistent. You can’t be here today and gone tomorrow. Do that and the algorithms forget that you even existed.
As OCCCNA celebrates its 2nd year anniversary, I have been having conversations that border on generosity with our 4,000 members. Below is verbatim what I posted 2 days ago on why OCCCNA members should help, share, and serve more, and sell less.
“OCCCNA (Online Courses Creators Community For Newbies And Advanced Beginners) as the name says is for “Newbies” and “Advanced Beginners” starting out to learn how to make a living online as course creators and anything to do with course creation.
A “Newbie” is someone who may not even know what a mouse is and an “Advanced Beginner” may be a veteran who has been training for over 20 years and just now pivoting online, and many other combinations in between. Wherever you are on the journey, you are very much welcome.
The help we can render as a community includes but not limited to helping members discover or find the right tools, strategies, tactics. It also includes helping in marketing, sales, selling, lead generation, lead magnets, trip wires, and relationship management. Yes, it also includes helping in the area of online visibility, how to do content marketing, and how to make the right offers. Adding how to create the right products, which product formats to use, how to use social media, and so on would not be far off.
By definition, if you are not making $10,000 monthly recurring revenue, that is, US$120,000 per year, you’re a “Newbie.” US$120K is about RP9,872,400 (Indian Rupees), N53,760,000 (Nigerian Naira(, ZAR2,160,192 (South African Rand), and so on. Online entrepreneurs making less than $10K monthly recurring revenue, are in the “Crawl” stage of their journey. The implication is that you have to humble yourself and keep learning.
Many people jump on OCCCNA to sell and jump out; they are not interested in helping others. Doing this shows you are only interested in getting and not giving, and that is a sure recipe for failure. For “Newbies” this attitude can be forgiven, but for “experts” this is scandalous.
Can I say, stop? Let’s help one another more. If someone needs help or asks a question and you happen to have or know the answer, why not share all you know right on the OCCCNA group so we can all learn together rather than say, DM me?
There are some mercenaries who come here to post but are not members of OCCCNA. If you find the OCCCNA group a good place to post, why don’t you find it a good group to join? So, as we set sights on the 3rd year of our community, let’s redouble our efforts to help more and sell less. If you persist and are consistent, you will surely win.”
So above is exactly what I shared with OCCCNA members and if you want to succeed online irrespective of the platform, group or community you belong to, approach your participation and the privilege with ton loads of generosity and you will succeed big time: you will create more influence and impact, and you’ll make more money.
Gary Vee, the social media guru (he doesn’t like to be called “guru”) and the founder of VaynerMedia, calls the process of giving and giving and giving before asking for a buy, “Jab, Jab, Jab, Left Hook”. This is very counter intuitive but it’s the recipe for success as basically everything online is technically free until you consume to a certain limit.
On Saturday, 15th October, 2022, I will be doing a free webinar on “How To Make Winning Online A Certainty” and consider this as your invitation to attend. Here is the webinar link. The Webinar ID is 856 0555 2085 and the passcode is Z5HcRb. The time is 3pm WAT (7am PST, 10am EST, 2pm GMT and 7.30 pm IST).
Finally, on Wednesday, 26th October, we will be celebrating the 2nd year anniversary of OCCCNA with a Facebook Live, right on the OCCCNA Group, starting at 3pm WAT. You are cordially invited.
Best.
