It’s been working tirelessly to clothe, feed, and house me and my family since 2009.
An interesting story how I met a business titan – Benji (now buddies).
(Ready? (Share this article with your network to help someone become an authors).
I’m driving and a call comes in; please sir, are you Mr. Uduk?
This business titan want’s to meet the man behind ‘Bridges’.
He explained that he’d been to my former 9 – 5 place and he was informed I’d left.
He pleads if he could come and meet me.
A long story short I was in Mr. Ben Ofungwu’s office the following day.
He tells me, ‘Bridges is so good, I bought copies for all my friends in Ikeja Golf Club.’
(And giggles).
Next, he invites me to play golf with him.
In quick succession, he informs me they’re having their annual retreat soon.
“Do you mind, please, (with emphasis on the please), to speak on customer service during our retreat?
(Roche’s country manager would be there, he whispers).
Before long we are talking as friends who have known each other for decades.
The best book in his days was ‘Up the Organization’, by Robert Townsend, he quipped.

(I’ll get you a copy when next I travel, he chuckles. And he did.)
(Inside he wrote, “To a brilliant author, teacher, leadership counsellor,
and someone I consider a friend – Paul Uduk”)
The book was their religion and he used it to build his business empire, he whispers.
He’d been building it for 40 years and was handing over the reins to the next generation.
This is what Benji wrote in his book Reminiscences (that I helped him edit):
“Some few years ago I stumbled on a book, Bridges to the Customer Heart, written by Paul Uduk. I picked up the book from the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja and after going through the book, I was convinced that it was one of the best business books from a Nigerian author that I had read.”
Emily Dickinson once said, there is no frigate like a book.
What’s stopping you from writing a book?
I’ve packaged everything I know about the book business into
a practical mini-course, Book Writing Clinic (BWC).
I’m running a BWC on 7 March (virtual) and 14 March (face-to-face, in Victoria Island, Lagos).
If you’re interested, join virtually.
You can’t wish a book into being. You have to write it.
You can write it all by yourself. Or you can enlist the help of AI. It’s up to you.
In the past 10 years I’ve helped hundreds of my friends become authors.
You too can become an author like Helen Majemite, Dr. Eniayewun, and Prof. Hajara Ibrahim
if becoming an author is important to you.
