The First CEO I Ghostwrote For and What Surprised Me

When I first ghostwrote for a CEO, I expected complexity.
I prepared for jargon, hierarchy, and endless corporate layers.

Instead, something else surprised me entirely.

What I encountered was not a lack of intelligence.
Rather, it was a struggle with structure.

The Structure Gap Most Leaders Face

Despite decades of leadership experience, boardroom influence, and global exposure, this CEO struggled to structure his own story.
That struggle did not co

me from confusion.
It came from the nature of le

adership itself.

Leadership is lived in action, not written in paragraphs.
Executives think in decisions, frameworks, numbers, and people.
However, books demand something different.

They require narrative.
They demand sequence.

More importantly, they call for reflection and coherence.

As a result, many leaders who can run global organizations find it difficult to organize their own journey on paper.
Not because they lack substance, but because their experience was never designed for storytelling.

The Moment That Changed Everything

During one working session, he paused.
Then he said something I will never forget.

“Paul, you helped me understand my own journey better. I didn’t realize how much I’ve lived.”

In that moment, the real gap became obvious.
Leaders carry entire libraries of wisdom internally.

Yet, very few organize any of it externally.

Although experience accumulates naturally, meaning does not.
Without structure, insight remains scattered.
Without documentation, wisdom stays hidden.

That single conversation later became the foundation of my Executive Legacy Blueprint, which now helps leaders turn lived experience into clear intellectual assets.
You can explore how that framework works through the Book Writing Clinic.

The Real Problem With Executive Experience

Experience alone is not the issue.
Unstructured experience is.

Many executives assume their legacy is obvious.
Unfortunately, clarity rarely survives silence.

Ghostwriting, therefore, is not about writing for leaders.
Instead, it is about helping leaders make sense of a lifetime.
It is about extracting patterns, naming lessons, and arranging insights into something others can learn from.

According to research published by Harvard Business Review, leaders who articulate their thinking clearly increase both influence and organizational alignment.
Writing, when done well, becomes a leadership multiplier rather than a personal exercise.
You can read more about this relationship between leadership and narrative on Harvard Business Review.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

Today’s leaders operate in fast-moving environments.
Decisions happen quickly.
Lessons are learned silently.

However, industries do not evolve on instinct alone.
They evolve when leaders slow down enough to document what works.

A book does not just preserve memory.
It creates reference points.
It turns lived experience into public infrastructure.

That is why documenting leadership is no longer optional.
It is a responsibility.

A Question Worth Sitting With

If someone tried documenting your journey today, how easily would they find the story worth preserving?
Would your insights appear organized or scattered?
Would your lessons be obvious or buried?

More importantly, when will you take control of that narrative?

If you are ready to start that conversation, then let’s talk.
The fastest way to preserve your legacy is through your book.

Join the Legacy Book Accelerator Program and begin structuring what you already know.
I’m Paul Uduk, and through the Book Writing Clinic, I want us to master book writing and become authors in 2026 through a clear, practical process.

Your experience already matters.
Now it is time to organize it.

The post The First CEO I Ghostwrote For and What Surprised Me first appeared on Official website of Paul Uduk.

Unannounced.
Early.
Ready to learn.

It was the same emotion Brendon Burchard once described when Tony Robbins, his own mentor and greatest influence, enrolled in his coaching program. Brendon said it was humbling. Affirming. Transformational.

That was exactly how I felt.

My journey with Richmond Dayo Johnson began around 2011, shortly after I exited my 9–5. I was uncertain, searching, and still finding my footing. One day, I stumbled on RDJ’s website. He exuded confidence, clarity, and leadership. Dressed in exercise gear, shin and knee guards on, he spoke with effortless eloquence.

I remember thinking, being online is for special people like this.
So I scrolled away.

Not long after, fate intervened again. I came across an article RDJ had written in Ovation Magazine. At the end of the piece, he made a bold declaration:
“If you want to speak as well as I do, join Toastmasters.”

That single line changed my trajectory.

I joined Toastmasters International, reconnected with RDJ, and he became my mentor. When he partially relocated to Nigeria to lead a major TV and radio project in Lagos, our relationship deepened. We shared meals, conversations, and countless Toastmasters meetings. That was when he introduced me to the concept of personal branding—long before it became fashionable.

I was a terrible speaker. Truly awful.
Yet after every speech, RDJ would smile and say, “Well done.”

I was often embarrassed.
But he saw what I couldn’t yet see.

When I published Bridges to the Customer’s Heart, RDJ wrote words that still humble me today. He described my work as authentic, experiential, and solution-focused, recommending it “unreservedly.” That endorsement strengthened my confidence and my resolve.

After that book, I became relentless.
“RDJ, you need to write your own book.”

Then one day, without notice, RDJ showed up at Book Writing Clinic.

He arrived before I did.
A stickler for time, as always.

In that moment, the roles shifted.
My mentor had become my mentee.

It remains one of the happiest days of my life.

RDJ began work on his book, Releasing the Imprisoned Splendour. And in that quiet, powerful reversal, I learned a lesson I now teach openly: mentoring and coaching, when done well, are never one-way streets.

When the mentee grows enough, adds enough value, and steps fully into purpose, the relationship evolves. You may one day coach your coach. Mentor your mentor. And deepen the bond in ways you never imagined.

So I’ll leave you with a question worth reflecting on:
Do you see yourself becoming a coach to your ex-coach – or a mentor to your ex-mentor?

And if you’re curious how far Releasing the Imprisoned Splendour has gone…

Ask me.

The post The Day My Biggest Leadership Mentor Attended BWC first appeared on Official website of Paul Uduk.

A 149-Word Letter That Changed My Life

Years ago, a simple letter from the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London altered the trajectory of my life.

It wasn’t a long letter – just 149 words – but it carried a truth that would shape everything that followed.

In it, the Institute congratulated me on my election to Associateship and said something that struck me deeply:

“If you want to keep in touch with a subject, try teaching it.”

At that moment, I was a young banker – ambitious, driven, and curious.
But I hadn’t realized that the act of teaching could be far more powerful than the pursuit of titles or promotions.

That short line – try teaching it – became my compass.
It pushed me to share what I knew.

And in sharing, I began to grow in ways no classroom, conference, or corporate training could ever provide.

The Multiplier Effect of Teaching

Teaching is the hidden multiplier of life and leadership.
It’s the one skill that compounds every other skill you possess.

When you teach, you deepen your understanding.
When you teach, you expand your reach.
When you teach, you multiply your impact.

Every great leader in history – from Edward Deming and Peter Drucker to Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, and Mel Robbins – built their legacy not just by doing, but by teaching what they did.

Deming taught quality.
Drucker taught management.
Robbins teaches transformation.
Godin teaches creativity and permission marketing.

Their names endure because they didn’t just achieve – they transferred wisdom.
Teaching is how knowledge becomes legacy.

From Banker to Builder of Leaders

When I began teaching, it was to stay “in touch” with my field.
I taught Elements of Banking, Elements of Management, and Elements of Investment to junior colleagues and interns.

Soon, I discovered that teaching wasn’t just about giving – it was about growing.

The more I taught, the more I learned.
The clearer my thoughts became.
The more confident my voice grew.

Over time, that single decision to teach led me down a completely new path – from corporate banker to corporate trainer, from trainer to leadership coach, and eventually, to Legacy Book Coach.

Today, I’ve taught more than 20,000 professionals across industries and coached executives from top organizations through Vision & Talent Group.

And every time I step into a room, virtual or physical, I see the same truth play out:

Teaching doesn’t just transform the learner – it transforms the teacher too.

Why Teaching Is the Ultimate Leadership Skill

It’s no accident that every great leader is also a teacher.
Leadership and teaching are two sides of the same coin.

Leaders who can’t teach end up managing tasks, not inspiring transformation.
But leaders who teach – who simplify, explain, and mentor – build cultures that outlast them.

When you teach, you do three things that leadership books rarely emphasize:

You Clarify What You Believe.
Teaching forces you to articulate your ideas clearly and consistently. You can’t hide behind jargon when you’re explaining something to a beginner.

You Multiply Yourself.
Through teaching, you replicate your values, vision, and wisdom in others. That’s how institutions endure and movements grow.

You Leave a Legacy.
When you teach, your influence survives beyond your presence. You empower others to think, act, and create long after you’ve left the room.

In short:

Leadership without teaching is authority.
Leadership with teaching is legacy.

Teaching Is Not About Profession – It’s About Intention

Many people think teaching belongs only in classrooms.
That’s a myth.

You don’t need to be a “professional” teacher to teach.

If you’re a doctor, engineer, designer, or founder, you already have something the world needs to learn.

Think of Pat Flynn, the founder of Smart Passive Income.
He built an empire simply by teaching what he knew – step by step.

Or Danny Iny, the Canada-based entrepreneur behind Mirasee, who wrote two landmark books – Teach Your Gift and Leveraged Learning.
Both books champion one simple idea: when you teach your gift, you multiply your influence.

You don’t need to have all the answers.
You only need the willingness to share what’s worked for you.
Teaching isn’t about perfection – it’s about participation.

Teaching as the Foundation of Vision & Talent

When I founded Vision & Talent Group, it wasn’t to create just another training company.
It was to build a movement of multipliers.
People who understand that knowledge is wealth – but shared knowledge is power.

We’ve since trained tens of thousands of professionals, built communities of authors and thought leaders, and launched programs that help executives turn their expertise into influence.

At the core of it all is one belief:

Every expert should become a teacher.
Every teacher should become a leader.
And every leader should leave a legacy.

That’s the DNA of Vision & Talent – and the essence of my work as The Legacy Book Coach.

How to Start Teaching What You Know

If you’re wondering where to start, begin simple.

Start a blog or newsletter. Share lessons from your experience.

Host a free webinar. Teach a single topic you know well.

Mentor one person. Help someone who’s two steps behind you.

Write your book. Document your journey and frameworks.

You don’t need permission.
You only need conviction.

Because the truth is this:
The world doesn’t need more information.

It needs more interpretation – from people like you who have walked the path and can show others the way.

Your Legacy Begins When You Teach

Teaching is the most underrated form of influence in our time.
It is how we multiply what matters.
It is how we build what outlasts us.

If success is climbing the mountain, teaching is building a ladder for others to climb.
And in doing so, you rise even higher.

So – what could you teach this month?
What lesson has your journey already paid for?

Don’t wait for the perfect time.
Start teaching what you know.
Someone’s destiny may depend on your willingness to share.

Ready to Multiply Your Impact?

In the age of AI, if you think the human connection doesn’t matter, think again. Redefining customer intimacy in the age of AI is your food for thought.

In the rush toward automation and artificial intelligence, one truth remains timeless: the most human company will always win.

Introduction: Beyond Buzzwords

Customer intimacy.

At first, it sounds like another management fad. A phrase that belongs in glossy slides and Harvard Business Review essays.

We’ve seen them all before – Management by Objectives, Total Quality Management, Business Process Re-engineering.

But Customer Intimacy (CI) isn’t just another acronym. It’s a revolution.
A shift from profit-first to people-first.

In this new age, the businesses that endure are not those chasing transactions – but those building transformational relationships.

What Customer Intimacy Really Means

Customer intimacy is not about data or dashboards.
It’s about understanding the human being behind every purchase.

It means anticipating needs, feeling the customer’s pain, and celebrating their success – even before they ask.

When you do that, profits follow naturally. Because value creation – not profit generation – becomes your true north.

“When you care deeply, profits chase you – not the other way around.”

Art Huskey – Service from the Heart

Laurie Beth Jones tells a moving story in Jesus CEO about Art Huskey, a real estate agent from San Diego.

When Art couldn’t reach one of his elderly clients, he didn’t ignore it. He showed up.

He found them dangerously dehydrated from illness, rushed them to the hospital, and later delivered chicken soup every week until they recovered.

Everyone who knew Art had a story like that. No wonder he outsold every agent five to one.

His success wasn’t in technology. It was in human touch.

That’s what customer intimacy looks like – service that feels like love in action.

The Tokyo Department Store – Anticipating the Customer

Douglas D. Danforth, former Chairman and CEO of Westinghouse, once shared an unforgettable story.

An American tourist bought a CD player in Tokyo, only to find it was a hollow display model. Before she could complain, the store’s vice president had already traced her through her credit card slip and called to apologize.

The next morning, a team from the store arrived – carrying a new player, a Chopin disc, towels, cakes, and heartfelt apologies.

Compare that to the six-month battle she endured with a Manhattan department store over a simple billing error.

That contrast is the definition of customer intimacy: fix the issue before the customer calls.

“Customer intimacy turns service into a story the customer can’t stop retelling.”

Joe Girard – Staying Close, Staying Human

Joe Girard, recognized by Guinness World Records as the greatest car salesman alive, sold more cars each year – for eleven straight years – than anyone else.

His secret? Consistency and care.

Every month, each of his thousands of customers received a handwritten card.
On the front: “I LIKE YOU.”
Inside: a simple seasonal greeting.

Birthday cards. Holiday cards. Random thank-yous.

Joe’s secret was simple – stay close even when there’s nothing to sell.

Passion + System = Excellence

Tom Peters, in In Search of Excellence, wrote that success requires both passion and systems.

Without passion, systems become lifeless. Without systems, passion becomes chaos.

Look at Honda, where employees straighten windshield wipers on parked Hondas out of pride. Or Frito-Lay, whose sales force braves snowstorms to restock chips, ensuring a 99.99% service level.

These are not random acts of diligence. They are cultures of care.

“System without passion is machinery. Passion without system is madness. True excellence is both.”

The Role of Leadership

Edwards Deming, father of the quality revolution, once said,

“Quality is made in the boardroom.”

Leadership sets the tone. If leaders care deeply about customers, that passion cascades through every level of the organization.

Policies should reflect empathy. Teams should feel empowered to act. Culture should reward service that goes beyond the script.

Because without a culture of care, even AI can’t make your company feel human. Make “culture of care” #1 item in all your meeting agendas.

Why It Matters in the Age of AI

Customer satisfaction is no longer a differentiator – it’s the entry ticket.

In the age of algorithms, data, and automation, the new competitive edge is empathy.

AI gives us the power to understand, predict, and respond faster than ever. But it can’t feel.

That’s where humans win.
Customer intimacy means using technology to enhance relationships, not replace them.
It’s knowing your customers so deeply that you can serve their needs today – and anticipate the needs of their children tomorrow. This is the essence of cradle-to-cradle service.

The Vision & Talent Standard

At Vision & Talent, we make customer experience not just a buzzword – but an everyday reality. We joke that we eat customer experience as breakfast.

We believe technology should amplify empathy, not erase it. We help organizations design systems that are powered by AI but guided by humanity.

Because the future belongs to businesses that remember one timeless truth:

It’s not the smartest company that wins. It’s the most human.

Final Reflection

Customer intimacy is simple, but never easy.
It’s choosing care over convenience.
Connection over compliance.
Humanity over hierarchy.

When we lead with empathy, passion, and purpose, every customer interaction becomes a legacy.

So ask yourself:
How close are you – really – to your customers?

I lied by telling you you’d build a digital empire if you just attended BWC.

Forgive me.

I was overconfident your empire would flourish if you added iBMC to your list of courses.

BWC’s subtitle is: How Experts Build Empire.

I touted iBMC as the complete program that shows you how to build a scalable online business from scratch, create a sustainable lifestyle and a Digital Empire even if you’re a beginner.

I was dead sure with BWC and iBMC we would all be driving Lamborghinis, Porches, and BMWs.

Total cost of the two courses at today’s exchange rate $67.

I was confident BWC and iBMC alumni members would be inviting me to the official launching of their palatial homes in Banana Island.

Sadly, almost five years after launching the first iBMC cohort all I’m hearing is crickets.

We left no bases untouched.

The formula was simple:

Be generous

Be persistent

Be consistent

We sang and recited these catch phrases as catechism.

We assigned accountability partners.

BWC members crafted their book outlines.

And read out in public the date their books would see the light of day.

That would be the day they would become PUBLISHED AUTHORS.

But so far, no BWC and iBMC alumni member has cracked the millionaire code.

Despite all the exhortations to think BIG.

Followed by fiery admonition to cleanse our belief system.

Punctuated with sermons to take charge of our minds – winning starts in the mind.

Only FW (one out of almost a thousand) has come close to building an empire.

It would seem I got it disastrously wrong.

I lied.

Mea culpa.

Forgive me.

But, please just hear me out.

The philosopher, Seth Godin, penned a book, All Marketers Are Liars.

Not to forget, Trust Me, I’m Lying, by the inimitable Ryan Holiday.

I’ve now joined the illustrious gang of liars.

Now, I also remember our mantra in every BWC and iBMC cohort.

It was – You can lead a horse to a river but you can’t force it to drink.

We punctuated every admonition, exhortation and lesson with this one proverb.

Our achievement or lack of, underscores the science that success is achieved, not by:

a) Reading inspirational books

b) Attending four figure courses costing $1997 and above

c) Following LinkedIn, X, Instagram and YouTube or Tinder top voices

To move from fussy inspiration to achieving momentum requires one thing:

ACTION.

It requires picking your pen and writing something no matter how silly and laughable.

Yes, the first step in the journey to success is ACTION.

Once you take action, half the battle is won.

Take action consistently for 18 months and come back and free me from the lie prison I’ve found myself in.

Enjoy your Sunday and don’t forget to attend Ashram, Church, Mosque or Temple Service.

As the CEO Vision & Talent Group I help organizations groom their leaders to become more visionary.

I take delight in coaching determined individuals to become more result-oriented, write books and amplify their IP.

Reach out if you’re interested in becoming more result-oriented.

The post I’m sorry, I lied (but please hear me out) first appeared on Official website of Paul Uduk.

Many believe they need multiple certifications from Microsoft, Google and CIPM to succeed.

Others believe they need to become SCRUM Masters, experts in Agile and Project Management to make it to the top.

You don’t.

The two other skills you need to climb to the top of the food chain are leadership and sales.

This is how the three skills stake out:

↳ Content Creation

↳ Leadership

↳ Sales

Content creation is also referred to as “Production”.

Leadership enables you to bring people together to do things at scale.

Sales equips you to make whatever you produce available to people at scale.

Sales subsumes:

↳ Marketing

↳ Promotion

↳ Advertising

↳ Sponsorships

↳ Affiliate Marketing

Content creation (at scale) positions you to create content and products people actually care about.

This post focuses on content creation.

What can you create?

↳ Apps

↳ Codes

↳ Books

↳ Podcasts

↳ Posts on LinkedIn

↳ Videos on YouTube

↳ Articles, Posts, Reels on X, FB, IG & TT

Choose the platform you want to dominate carefully to avoid burnout.

Sadly, 99% of professionals don’t take content creation with gusto.

Take for instance, of the over 1billion people on LinkedIn, only about 1% post consistently – that means posting at least once a week.

Most believe creating content is difficult, need special skills and takes time.

On the contrary content creation is easy, straight forward and is at the heart of career success today.

Creating content worthy of attention and at scale begins with learning.

No one was born a content creator.

The best LinkedIn creators like Jasmin Alic, Charlie Hall, Nick Broekema, Lara Acosta, Matt Barker all started from somewhere.

Same goes for the best course creators like Brendon Burchard, Russell Brunson and Alex Hormozi.

Personally, I started somewhere and today I’ve created over 100 courses and taught over 20,000 students.

When Bill Gates coined the stunning phrase “Content is King” in 1996 few understood its import.

The few who understood created empires for themselves:

↳ Brian Clark (Copy Blogger)

↳ Darren Rowse (Pro Blogger)

↳ Jon Morrow (Smart Blogger)

↳ Rand Fishkin (Co-founder Moz)

↳ Ariana Huffington (Huffington Post)

↳ Linda Ikeji (Linda Ikeji Blog)

Alex Hormozi amassed over $100M in networth before age 32.

It took Alex less than 10 years.

Alex’s secret:

↳ Content (3,400 videos, IP, books, TPOV)

↳ Business model

↳ Hard work

However, hard work alone is not enough but it’s the foundation.

On top of hard work you need effective coaches to accelerate your success.

If you don’t want to work for 35 years and retire with little to show for it, start creating and get a coach in tow.

Start producing content today, on LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, your website and approach it with messianic zeal.

If you do, within 18 months you’ll master how to produce content worth buying.

I’m learning, you too can learn.

The moment you stop learning the world leaves you behind.

Stop citing, reciting, quoting, reveling in, retweeting, forwarding, celebrating, highlighting, paraphrasing, bookmarking and parroting content created by others.

Start producing your own content in a professional way.

And learn to produce at scale

Creating content like a book follows a simple process:

↳ Brainstorm the content of your book

↳ Structure the content properly

↳ Come up with an Outline.

I teach book writing in my Book Writing Clinic (BWC).

You can start learning and begin the journey of becoming a published author today.

Don’t wait, join the book writing train: BWC.

If you want to tell the world your story let’s connect by following this link

If that link does not open click this link: https://bit.ly/3IamWYd

Creating a course is easy and straight forward:

↳ It starts with knowing the person you want to create a course for

↳ Understanding his or her need (the problem – aka pain points)

↳ Providing a timely solution at the point of need

I have created courses for hundreds and you too can do it if you put in the effort.

Learn digital marketing especially if you’re a beginner, I have a course for you: Internet Business Mastery Course (iBMC).

WINNING, in the sense I have here, is about impact – the impact you’re creating in the world – or in your own neck of the woods.

Most people equate WINNING with money – if you have lots of money, you’re a WINNER.

To these sets of people, the end justifies the means.

True, money matters, but to me money is a by-product of impact.

Create enough impact and the money will come.

So, instead of running all over the place contriving schemes on how you can make money, search the horizon to see how you can create more impact.

The people that have created the greatest impact never focused on money.
– Thomas Edison
– Alexander Fleming
– Marie Curie
– Tim Berners-Lee

Much has been written about the impact Steve Jobs – and Apple – have created.

But do you know that Jobs started by reminiscing about the impact he could create in the world?

He challenged himself and his friends to think deeply – beyond the mundane.

Jobs reminded his friends, “the food we eat, the shoe, watch, tie, etc., we wear, we never invented them.”

That’s how his famous “Leaving a dent on the universe” came about.

To leave a dent on the universe, Jobs challenged his people to ensure every product that came out of Apple “must be insanely great.”

As they say, the rest is history.

Peter Diamandis of X-Prize fame, and author of two iconic books, BOLD, and ABUNDANCE, has a popular quote:

… “If you want to become a billionaire, impact a billion people.”

If you focus on impact, with time, you will WIN.

So, never, never give up.

If you asked me, Paul, what impact are you creating?

My answer, I’m creating 10 million authors all over Africa – through BWC.

Have you written your book yet?

BWC INTENSIVE 2 kicks off on 15 February.

Don’t miss it.

Lets connect for more information

Best.

One of the best ways to navigate life is to have a Personal Code of Conduct.

Just as every country has a constitution to guide its affairs, your Personal Code of Conduct acts as the constitution of your life.

Your Personal Code of Conduct sets the boundaries for what you will do and what you will not do.

Tony Robbins is certainly the greatest motivational guru of the modern era.

Over two decades ago I stumbled on his magnum opus, Awaken the Giant Within.

Before then I’d devoured Tony’s groundbreaking treatise, UNSTOPPABLE.

As the world’s standard bearer on self-mastery, Tony recommends you create a Personal Code of Conduct.

In brief: in a world where mediocrity is the standard, commit to being the best.

Set for yourself the highest standards and commit to constant and never-ending improvement.

One of the best ways to create your Personal Code of Conduct is to model the codes of conduct that already exist.

The OPTIMISTS’ CLUB CREED in my opinion is one of the most inspiring.

It says, Promise yourself…

To be strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something of value in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievement of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit presence of trouble.

As we march into 2025, make tiny commitments.

To burn the mid-night oil so you can join the ranks of the legends.

Not measured by how fat your bank account is today, but by the impact you’re creating day by day.

Like letting the blind see.

And like writing your first book so you taste immortality

Yes, like setting up your website so you join the information superhighway.

And much more tiny wins.

Start with your Personal Code of Conduct.

Remember, tiny habits compound.

What tiny impact are you creating in 2025?
