Pick any figure you admire. They came to prominence through a book.

Warren Bennis. Michael Porter. Clayton Christensen. Each burst into prominence after publishing. Michael Porter’s Competitive Strategy made him a global phenomenon.

Jim Collins’ Built to Last and Good to Great made him a global citizen.

Rich Dad Poor Dad made Robert Kiyosaki a household name worldwide.

Gary Vaynerchuk transformed his dad’s liquor store and created Wine Library TV. But Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook made him famous.

Tony Robbins is known for Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within.

Without In Search of Excellence, no one would know Tom Peters.

Who would remember Robert Greene without 48 Laws of Power?

Steven Bartlett had 10 million YouTube subscribers before The Diary of a CEO. The book made him a household name.

Russell Brunson’s Secrets Trilogy exploded globally, eclipsing even ClickFunnels.

Alex Hormozi has a $100M net worth. But he’s better known for $100M Money Models – the book that earned him a Guinness World Record.

My little claim to fame isn’t the 20,000 people I’ve trained. It’s Bridges to the Customer’s Heart.

Without a book, you’re lost in the weeds.

Lara Acosta, Jasmin Alic, Justin Welsh – combined 1.5M LinkedIn followers. If each wrote a book tomorrow? Instant celebrities.

You want to scale your impact?

Without a book, you’re busy – but invisible.
With one, your ideas travel without you.

You want to scale your impact?
Write the book only you can write.

What’s stopping you?

I created Book Writing Clinic (BWC) to help my friends become authors.

Read more about BWC and register by following this link – if you want to become a published author in 2026.

BWC has graduated more than 450 and over 80 are now authors.

Not still sure if BWC is the right step for you?

That regret is not only a personal misfortune but a national tragedy.

Hear me out.

I’m standing at the lobby of the NIM (Nigerian Institute of Management).

Staring down at me are the names of past presidents of NIM.

Established in 1959, the list is carved in marble.

The list reads like ‘who is who’.

Some of Nigeria’s finest executives.

62 of them.

Randomly selected:

Prof. Olukunle Iyanda

Dr. Christopher Abebe

Mrs. Margaret Adeleke

Dr. Michael Omolayole

Dr. Christopher Kolade

Dr. Michael Olawale Cole

Major-Gen. Abdullahi Muraina

Sadly less than 5 (out of 62) have written a book on management.

Their knowledge, wisdom, experience, all gone.

Most probably planned to write “someday.”

After retirement.
After the next phase.
After things slow down.

They underestimate one thing:
Memory fades.
Urgency disappears.
Energy shifts.

The best time to document experience is while it’s still alive.

Delay doesn’t improve clarity.

It erodes it.

This applies not only to past presidents of NIM, but every executive.

Delay in documenting your wisdom results in both personal and national regret.

Compare NIM with IIM (Indian Institute of Management).

NIM (established in 1959) is 2 years older than IIM (Indian Institute of Management).

But the two have almost nothing in common apart from being institutes of management.

IIM is decentralized, with 21 autonomous public business schools spread all over India.

Each has a rigorous academic curriculum.

And their books are some of the best in the world.

Books by IIM, Ahmedabad, include the “IIMA Exclusive” series published with Penguin Random House.

Key titles: Day to Day Economics, Managers who make a difference, Being Ethical, Speak with Impact, The Persuasive Manager.

I’ve searched far and wide for NIM books but yet to find any.

What is stopping you from documenting your wisdom today?

I created BWC (Book Writing Clinic) as a launch pad for professionals determined to write a book.

For less than $25 you can begin the journey to becoming a published author.

Busy executives can opt for BWC Intensive (a short masterclass).

And ultra busy executives can go for DFU (Done For You) (with a manuscript in 16 weeks).

Happy to be associated with Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole (iBMC Alumni), who has penned

5 books in the span of three years (including The Courage to be Different)

If you follow and implement these 35 ideas that make you an unbeatable author, you’ll be ahead of

99.99% of people dreaming to become authors.

You’ll become an authority.

AUTHOR = AUTHORITY

A book is one of the most prized assets one can create.

Why?

Because a book is a moving work of art.

The most respected economists, entrepreneurs, intellectuals write books.

Bill Gates

Ray Dalio

Ben Ofungwu

Tony Elumelu

Satya Nadella

Richard Branson

Sheryl Sandberg

Arian Huffington

Stephen Schwarzman

Dr. Eniayewun Ademuyiwa Benjamin

Writing a book is not complicated.

But writing a book worth reading and becomes an asset takes effort.

Here are 35 ideas that make you an author people reckon with and want to read from always.

Catch the desire to write and hold it firm

⇨ A lot of folks remain in the desire phase forever

⇨ They are stopped by inferiority complex, imposter syndrome and self-doubt

⇨ Overcome gravity and start writing if you really want to become an author taken seriously

Define who you want to write for

⇨ Have a target audience in mind and write for that one person

⇨ Write as if you’re sitting across a coffee table

⇨ Write as a human not as a machine

Carry out ideas audit and pin point one topic to write on

⇨ Don’t be bogged down by so many ideas – pick one out of many and begin

⇨ Ideas audit enables you to do that – pick one idea you’re passionate about

⇨ All ideas are not created equal – pick an evergreen idea

Choose a topic that will remain evergreen

⇨ Your evergreen idea becomes your evergreen topic

⇨ Ideas like excellence, character, heroism are always evergreen

⇨ The idea, topic you choose may end up the title of your book

Research to know what others have written on the topic

⇨ You’re not likely to be the first person to write on this idea

⇨ Research helps you find gaps in what others wrote

⇨ Those gaps are what you’re going to fill

Brainstorm to fill the gaps to make your book standout

⇨ Brainstorming is where rubber meets the road

⇨ Go both deep and wide

⇨ Look at angles that will make your book standout (7 Habits vs Atomic Habits)

Write a minimum of one page per day – 365 pages in a year

⇨ Having chosen a topic (idea) start writing – if you really want to become an author

⇨ Write a minimum of 1 page per day

⇨ If you do you’ll have 365 pages of written manuscript in one year

Rewrite, as the essence of writing is rewriting

⇨ Don’t write and edit at the same time

⇨ Write, revise, rewrite until there is nothing more to add or remove

⇨ Is your manuscript worth telling home about? If yes, stop

Proofread the best you can before handing over to the experts to do the rest

⇨ Proofreading is the first stage in the editing process

⇨ Proofread your manuscript at least 3 times before handing over to the experts

⇨ You job stops at writing and the, handover the real editing to the experts

Look for cover designer and publisher concurrently

⇨ Smart authors discuss their book project with experts

⇨ One of such experts is the cover designer

⇨ Your publisher is your best bet to get you a good cover designer

Kick-start the editing process also using the right experts

⇨ Once proofreading stops editing starts

⇨ There are several levels of editing – but don’t be overwhelmed

⇨ As a first time author, focus on typos and grammar

Commission interior formatting also using top experts

⇨ Editing and formatting are two separate things

⇨ Some editors also have formatting skills

⇨ In big publishing outfits, two people handle each (be mindful of cost)

Negotiate to get a win-win-win with a publisher you’ve settled on

⇨ Excellent publishers put the interest of the author first

⇨ Ask the publisher to explain everything about the process to you

⇨ Don’t be shy to ask ‘stupid questions’ like how to get a Library of Congress number

Track the publishing process – don’t surrender everything to the publisher

⇨ A good publisher will carry you along in the process

⇨ (Big publishers are not likely to do that so choose wisely)

⇨ Your publisher will review everything – crosscheck one last time before ‘publish’

(Publishing is different from printing)

⇨ Printing converts your book in Word, PDF, E-Pub into a physical form

⇨ You can sell PDF or E-Pub but physical books still rule supreme

⇨ Choose your printer carefully – colour separation, layout, everything

Scout for a good printer as printing can make or mar your effort

⇨ A poorly printed book is worse than no book – nobody will buy it

⇨ If you pinch on anything, don’t pinch on printing or printer

⇨ Monitor every stage of the printing process – lean on your publisher

(Spy on great authors and their books to model – steal – their style)

⇨ Some books have sold millions of copies – don’t reinvent the wheel

⇨ Check their finishing, interior formatting, page style and layout

⇨ What can you model, copy or steal – you’re stealing a style (not a crime)

Pick a suitable printing spec – 5.5 x 8.5 are great for most books (next is 6 x 9)

⇨ Books come in different sizes and forms – ask your printer to explain

⇨ The most popular specifications are 5.5” x 8.5” and 6” x 9”

⇨ The number of pages determines the spec – don’t print a notebook

Think about marketing as all these are going on

⇨ Marketing (and selling) a book is far more difficult than writing one

⇨ It’s better to build an audience before you even start writing

⇨ Start thinking about marketing your book before even writing

(Marketing has two planks – marketing the book and marketing the author)

⇨ Few people will buy your book if they don’t know you

⇨ Big publishers have marketing advantage but you’ll not attract a big publisher

⇨ Market yourself and market your book – enlist an expert in this regard

Create ironclad sales strategy

⇨ Marketing and sales go hand in hand – both are processes

⇨ Marketing creates the awareness, sales executes

⇨ One of sales key functions is distribution – make you book available

Realise that a key pillar of sales is distribution – seed your book in every channel

⇨ If people can’t find your book they can’t buy

⇨ Carry your book everywhere – including the booth of your car

⇨ If you don’t have a car, carry in your computer bag or any bag at all

Move heaven and earth to get your book on top sales channels (Amazon, Ingram, B&N)

⇨ Having your book on Amazon gives you credibility – but it may not lead to sales

⇨ To sell you have to advertise, create your Amazon Author Central account and more

⇨ For more credibility get people to review you book on Amazon

Embark on massive publicity to let the world know about your book

⇨ Don’t be misled by the word ‘massive’ – think of scale and your budget

⇨ Do simple flyers, call cards with your book’s images on them

⇨ Talk about your book on social media and on your website and at conferences

Engineer media reviews as part of your publicity strategy

⇨ Get your book reviewed in local newspapers

⇨ Befriend journalists in top publications to review your book

⇨ Ask credible people to write about your book objectively

Grab more attention by appearing on TV, radio, podcasts (also CNN, Channels, NTA)

⇨ Some TV and radio stations have book segments – know the editors

⇨ Ask to be invited on small podcasts while aiming for BIG ones

⇨ Learn platform mastery – join Toastmasters, Lions, Rotary

Put up a website early to presell (Coming Soon – is a common strategy)

⇨ This is as simple as ABC – coming soon is a good way to announce your book to the world

⇨ For $100 to $150 you can get a simple website up and running

⇨ Don’t spare money on this because it’s the cheapest way to engineer publicity

Selling a book is harder than you think (sell everywhere – from the booth of your car)

⇨ Don’t be shy to carry your book about and announcing to everyone you’re an author

⇨ Attend conferences, seminars and conventions – buy or rent a stand

⇨ Join Book Clubs, do everything to maintain the selling momentum

Get your book into top sales outlets in your area (Paradise, Roving Heights, Selar – for Naija)

⇨ While Amazon reigns supreme globally, in Naija Selar.com is where to pitch your tent

⇨ Choose physical bookstores carefully (Paradise, Roving Heights, CIBN, Glendora are my pick)

⇨ Don’t give out your book more than 25 km from where you live

Recover your investment by launching the book

⇨ The easiest way to recover the investment in your book is to launch it

⇨ Invite 250 to 350 people who know you

⇨ Prepare and execute properly – don’t invite strangers, mind your cost

Embark on strategies to sell the book at scale

⇨ The end of one book should be the beginning of the next one

⇨ You need 5 books to move the needle in your favour

⇨ So, write more books like Chimamanda Adichie, Malcolm Gladwell, Seth Godin

Move to expand your social media footprints

⇨ If you’re not big on social media, don’t beat yourself up

⇨ The masters build audience first before writing a book

⇨ The best time to have started was 20 years ago, now is the next best time

Create a TPOV (Teachable Point of View) – to position your personal brand

⇨ For lack of TPOV authors perish – without a TPOV you’re soon forgotten

⇨ When you think of ‘Habits’ who comes to mind? (James Clear, right?)

⇨ A TPOV is what sets you apart from all other authors

Adopt strategies to ensure your book remains evergreen

⇨ Books die fast when not nurtured and can remain evergreen if supported

⇨ Think and Grow Rich was first published in 1937 and people still buy it today

⇨ Different covers: 5, 10, 25, 50, etc. year anniversary editions, revised edition, etc.

Tweak, optimize, adjust, research, form alliances, speak about your book – and pray.

⇨ Times change, trends come and go, and people come and go

⇨ Your book and strategies has to evolve with time

⇨ And last of all, PRAY constantly about your book until you win

Appears daunting but it’s not

How do you eat an elephant?

Anne Lamott lays it out in her book, Bird By Bird.

You needn’t master all ideas in one go.

Just take one at a time.

Once you start writing, half the battle is won.

I started with one 58-page flimsy book.

Now I have 8.

You too can start.

I’ve helped hundreds of my friends get started.

Some travel thousands of kilometers to attend Book Writing Clinic (BWC) in Lagos.

Today, and for the next 168 hours you can have BWC absolutely free.

Want to write a book? Don’t overthink book writing. Use these 4 ways to become an author.

People see a book like Atomic Habits (25m+ copies sold) and they go, huh, how did he do it?

Or $100M Money Models with 3m copies sold within 72 hours and they say, I can never do that!

As a new writer, you shouldn’t compare yourself to best-selling authors.

That would be like a start-up comparing itself to a behemoth like Amazon or Wal-Mart.

You can aspire to be a best-selling author (someday) but don’t compare yourself to James Clear or Alex Hormozi (from day one).

Those experts have perfected their craft.

Besides, you don’t know where they are coming from

For instance, Alex Hormozi’s first book, Gym Launch, flopped.

So, here are 4 ways to get started and become a published author, fast:

1. Repurpose What You’ve Written Before
This is the easiest way to become an author.

You’ve written something before.
Repurpose it into a book.
It must be a subject you know inside out.
That’s exactly how I wrote my first book.
(Credit Appraisal & Procedure Handbook).

I repurposed a credit memo I wrote into a credit booklet.
It’s a very ‘niche’ book – with a clear audience and purpose.

That first flimsy 58-page booklet gave me the confidence to write the 2nd and the 3rd and the 8th.

You have to start somewhere.

Take an existing topic and flip it on its head

This was the approach James Clear adopted.
Before Atomic Habits, the dominant book on habits was 7 habits.
7 Habits was broad and generic.
James Clear’s Atomic Habits went the opposite direction.
Focused and specific.
What to do day-by-day to pin down habits (Atomic).
Both books have sold over 50 million copies combined.

Write on a popular topic with your own story

No topic in the world is more popular than ‘how to be rich’.

How to be rich. How to be popular. How to make money.
Any book in this genre is bound to be an instant winner.

Books in this genre have a long history:

(1859) Self-Help by Samuel Smiles

(1890) Acres of Diamond by Russell Conwell

(1926) The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason

(1936) How to Make Friends and Influence People

(1937) Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

(1965) How to be Rich J. Paul Getty

Self-help is the most crowded genre in the book industry.

But that fact did not stop Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter.

Their 1997 book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, became a run-away best-seller.

(with 40m+ copies sold worldwide).

Write on a niche topic that you’ve mastered (Expertise)

The top experts here are Stephen Pressfield. Russell Brunson. Daniel Priestly.
In recent years Daniel Priestley has emerged a top voice in the area.

All his books are super niche:

24 Assets

Oversubscribed

Scorecard Marketing

Key Person of Influence

Lifestyle Business Playbook

Alex Hormozi, the current Guinness World Record holder, for the fastest selling non-fiction book is in a class of his own.

His books have sold 5m copies combined:

$100M OFFERS

$100M LEADS

$100M MONEY MODELS

All are super niche.

So, get started today.

Stop scratching your head waiting for lightning to strike.

Pull out a doc you wrote yesterday and repurpose into a book.

That’s it.

You’re a published author.

Want to press ahead and become a published author in 2026?

Book Writing Clinic (BWC) has taught more people than all other programs combined on how to turn their ideas into a book worth reading. Like Helen Majemite and Joel Omeike.

With Prof. Lere Baale, CEO BSNN

Can you believe it, someone asked me yesterday, what is BWC?

And I’ve been ranting, flexing, talking, crying, teaching and writing about BWC for over a decade?

And this guy sends me a WhatsApp message asking, “What is BWC?”

Goes to show that people need to be reminded a hundred times about your inventions, programs, courses, pov, movement.

People are distracted and lost in their own concerns and thoughts.

No reminder. No dice.

According to Google, you need 11 touch points for someone to become a customer.
(Remember Google’s “7-11-4” Rule?

And the RULE was enacted more than one and half decades ago. (2011).

So with AI with global “noisification”, how many touchpoints do you think you need?

10 x 10 x 11. (Remember that and quote me).

Okay, BWC stands for Book Writing Clinic.

I founded BWC in 2015 and now its a movement to create 100 million authors all over Africa to stop

making the African continent a laughing stock. That’s it.

For you, BWC is a short course to help you write books.

More than that, BWC is to help you grow your IP (intellectual prop) and build your Expert Empire.
(Like the masters: Alex Hormozi, Daniel Priestley, Steven Bartlett).

BWC and its sister programs – BWC Intensive, Executive Book Roundtable and Internet Business Mastery –

have graduated more than 1,000.

BWC distills the book business into its essence and delivers it to you on a platter – the golden type.

I go out of my way to support you until you write and publish your book.

Not only will you learn how to write, package, publish and market your book.

You’ll also learn how to package yourself so you become an attractive personal brand.

BWC is a community and you’ll join once you attend the Clinic.

After attending BWC you’ll become an advocate like Joel Omeike (THE HR GODFATHER) –

the author of FIRE YOUR HR – and Ijeoma Nneji, Binta Ibrahim, and Kayode Oluwasegun-Ojo.

Steven Bartlett, Founder DOAC YT Channel (15m Followers)

As author, the best thing you can do for your book is to build your author platform.

You have to start building your author platform before you write a single word.

This is why.

Your author platform is what puts you out there:

As someone people should listen to

Take your opinion seriously

Read whatever you write

(SM. Website. OPS. Newsletters. Books. etc.).

Building your author platform is the “only” way today to give your book a fighting chance.

You don’t have to be a loud TikToker.

You just have to be an authority (in something – your niche).

Of course if you can TikTok, the better.

Seth Godin understood this earlier than most other authors.

He’s been blogging since 1999 (25 years).

You were not born then or too young to care?

Steven Bartlett was 7 years in 1999.

He started “dabbling” into social media at 17.

(MySpace. Yahoo!, etc.)

He was inspired by Set Godin.

Today Steven has 30.74m followers across social media platforms.

So, his books become multiple best-sellers immediately they are released.

Because you need to sell just 5,000 copies within 7 days across different markets.

(For your book to become a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The UK Times best-seller).

With 30,740,000 followers, even if 1% buy your book… you can complete the sentence.

If you’re one of the 450 plus BWC alumni, you can ignore everything I’ve ever taught you before about book writing.

But please don’t ignore what you’re reading (now from me) about author platform.

Start building one as if your life depended on it.

Because it does.

Else, your book will become a door stopper.

Get on with it: build your LinkedIn, Instagram, X and FB platforms.

(But start with one – divide and conquer).

Invite my agency (Vision & Talent Media) to help you.

I’ve just finished reading The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett.

It became the fastest-selling personal development book since records began,

hit the #1 spot on the Sunday Times bestseller list, and is a Wall Street Journal bestseller.

(DID YOU READ THAT?)

Let it sink in.

I wrote my best-selling book Bridges to the Customer’s Heart in 2009.

I did zilch about my author platform.

(I was doing 9-5; you’re to be seen, not to be heard).

Because of that book they sacked me from work in 2010. (That’s a story for another day).

I started BWC (Book Writing Clinic) in 2015.

I talked about book marketing in generic terms.

Knowing what I know now, marketing should be on the front burner – before starting your manuscript.

I discovered that selling a book is 10 times harder than writing one.

That’s why we must put building our author platforms as the #1 priority.

Jump onto Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube.

Post daily even if you get ignored.

Just continue pressing ahead as I’m doing.

Even Alex Hormozi (11.55m followers), Ali Abdaal (8.6m) and Seth Godin (1.1m) started somewhere.

So, what are you doing about your author platform?

When are you going to start building one?

If you’re wondering where and how to start, consider joining iBMC (Internet Business Mastery Course).

Also consider Online Course Creators Community For Newbies And Advanced Beginners.

It’s a Facebook group I created in 2020.

It’s set to hit 28,000 members. Join by following this link.

Also consider learning book writing by registering for Book Writing Clinic (BWC) by me, Paul Uduk.

You see, followers without a product to sell at the backend is a waste of time.

Steven Bartlett became a multi-millionaire by creating products he sold to his followers.

BWC for Quarter One is billed for Saturday 7 March, at 7.30am. It’s to be organized as a hybrid.

Whether you’re a BWC member published author or aspiring to get your first book off the ground, I invite you to attend.

Since I started BWC in 2015, a lot have changed. I’ll be hammering on sales strategies.

And how to build an author platform.

If you live around the Lagos area, there will be a physical Meet-Up in Victoria Island on 14 March.

(The virtual class is on 7 March).

It’s a paid course.

Fee is N45K for the virtual class and face-to-face Meet-Up.

To attend the Meet-Up, you must attend the virtual workshop. No exemption.

If you’re attending only the virtual BWC, fee is N35K or its equivalent in USD.

If you want to attend BWC plus Meet-UP in Victoria Island pay here.

If you want to attend BWC virtual only pay here.

Don’t miss BWC plus Meet-Up in V/I.

Because without a book, social security, life insurance, life is tough.

By the way Steven Bartlett is half Nigerian.

Catch you in class on 7 March.

The post The best thing you can do is to Build Your Author Platform first appeared on Official website of Paul Uduk.

Credit Appraisal & Procedure Handbook was my first book.

I wrote the book out of desperation and an urgent need to solve a burning problem.

The problem: I had 15 credit officers reporting to me, and all were greenhorns.

They were on national service and posted to the bank subsidiary where I was Head, Credit.

They were full of fire and determination to prove their mettle.

Apart from what they picked up on the job, they had no formal training.

Daily, I was stressed, bombarded with questions and having to redo lots of credit papers.

It was a nightmare.

SOLVING MY PROBLEM

To solve “my problem”, I wrote a credit memo to the general manager, laying out step-by-step how to approach every credit situation.

The GM was very happy and approved the memo and every recommendation.

It was that memo that I repurposed into a book.

The book was 58 pages long, typed single-spaced and comprised two sections:
1. Credit Appraisal Techniques
2. Procedure Guidelines

Yes, that was it.

A FLIMSY BOOK LANDED ME A JOB IN LAGOS, AND I BECAME AN INFLUENCER

If I may tell you, I knew nothing about the book industry – I even spelt foreword wrongly: wrote forward.

All I did was get a local printer to print 1,000 copies, which sold out within weeks.

That book cemented my reputation as a credit expert and an author.

That book landed me a job in one of the top three “new generation banks” (at the time) in faraway Lagos, Nigeria.

(I lived in Kaduna, central Nigeria, when I wrote that book).

Yes, that first book gave me the confidence to write another, and another, and another.

That’s how I became the “Paul Uduk” you know today as a “book guru”, expert, executive coach,

influencer, thought leader, speaker, trainer.

It started with just one flimsy book.

And today? I’ve written eight more books, with The Perennial Winner being the latest.

YOU TOO CAN WRITE

So, if I may ask, what are you waiting for?

You’re certainly an expert in something and likely facing a problem.

Why not solve that problem the same way I did mine – by writing a book?

Try it and come back and thank me later.

When choosing your book’s title, think series. Think of a title that can be extended into a series if you want to win BIG.

Think about series like:

– Harry Potter

– Guerilla Marketing

– Chicken Soup for the Soul

The Guerilla Marketing series initiated by the late Jay Conrad Levinson has sold between 20 and 21 million copies.

The Chicken Soup for the Soul book series by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen has more than 275 titles and has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide.

When J. K. Rowling, English teacher and a single mother, wrote the first Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, she didn’t think of stardom. She just wanted a book that could earn her little income by the side.

All the major publishers (the big 6 at the time) rejected the manuscript but she pressed on until she found an “unknown publisher” that took a chance on her because he had nothing to lose.

As destiny would have it, JK Rowling structured the book in such a way she could do it in a series. And as the saying goes, the rest is history.

The Harry Potter series has sold more than 600 million copies, and the film series has grossed $7.7billion. That’s the power of series.

The Harry Potter Series:

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

So, keep pressing ahead, you never can tell what is in store for your idea and book.

Are you agonizing that your first book failed? Think about JK Rowling. Her first Harry Potter book was rejected by 12 major publishing houses, including Penguin and HarperCollins.

So, take every set back as a call for more action.

The First CEO I Ghostwrote For and What Surprised Me

When I first ghostwrote for a CEO, I expected complexity.
I prepared for jargon, hierarchy, and endless corporate layers.

Instead, something else surprised me entirely.

What I encountered was not a lack of intelligence.
Rather, it was a struggle with structure.

The Structure Gap Most Leaders Face

Despite decades of leadership experience, boardroom influence, and global exposure, this CEO struggled to structure his own story.
That struggle did not co

me from confusion.
It came from the nature of le

adership itself.

Leadership is lived in action, not written in paragraphs.
Executives think in decisions, frameworks, numbers, and people.
However, books demand something different.

They require narrative.
They demand sequence.

More importantly, they call for reflection and coherence.

As a result, many leaders who can run global organizations find it difficult to organize their own journey on paper.
Not because they lack substance, but because their experience was never designed for storytelling.

The Moment That Changed Everything

During one working session, he paused.
Then he said something I will never forget.

“Paul, you helped me understand my own journey better. I didn’t realize how much I’ve lived.”

In that moment, the real gap became obvious.
Leaders carry entire libraries of wisdom internally.

Yet, very few organize any of it externally.

Although experience accumulates naturally, meaning does not.
Without structure, insight remains scattered.
Without documentation, wisdom stays hidden.

That single conversation later became the foundation of my Executive Legacy Blueprint, which now helps leaders turn lived experience into clear intellectual assets.
You can explore how that framework works through the Book Writing Clinic.

The Real Problem With Executive Experience

Experience alone is not the issue.
Unstructured experience is.

Many executives assume their legacy is obvious.
Unfortunately, clarity rarely survives silence.

Ghostwriting, therefore, is not about writing for leaders.
Instead, it is about helping leaders make sense of a lifetime.
It is about extracting patterns, naming lessons, and arranging insights into something others can learn from.

According to research published by Harvard Business Review, leaders who articulate their thinking clearly increase both influence and organizational alignment.
Writing, when done well, becomes a leadership multiplier rather than a personal exercise.
You can read more about this relationship between leadership and narrative on Harvard Business Review.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

Today’s leaders operate in fast-moving environments.
Decisions happen quickly.
Lessons are learned silently.

However, industries do not evolve on instinct alone.
They evolve when leaders slow down enough to document what works.

A book does not just preserve memory.
It creates reference points.
It turns lived experience into public infrastructure.

That is why documenting leadership is no longer optional.
It is a responsibility.

A Question Worth Sitting With

If someone tried documenting your journey today, how easily would they find the story worth preserving?
Would your insights appear organized or scattered?
Would your lessons be obvious or buried?

More importantly, when will you take control of that narrative?

If you are ready to start that conversation, then let’s talk.
The fastest way to preserve your legacy is through your book.

Join the Legacy Book Accelerator Program and begin structuring what you already know.
I’m Paul Uduk, and through the Book Writing Clinic, I want us to master book writing and become authors in 2026 through a clear, practical process.

Your experience already matters.
Now it is time to organize it.

The post The First CEO I Ghostwrote For and What Surprised Me first appeared on Official website of Paul Uduk.

Jack Welch didn’t just lead GE.
He created a management language still quoted decades later.

Robert Townsend didn’t simply run Avis.
He questioned hierarchy so profoundly that Up the Organization became a quiet rebellion in book form.

These leaders didn’t write to summarize success.
They wrote to transform thinking.
They didn’t chase trends. They created reference points.
They didn’t wait for retirement. They wrote while leading.
They didn’t wait for applause. They documented while it was uncomfortable.

The Power of Documented Leadership

Books do more than preserve ideas.
They turn private lessons into public frameworks.
They convert instinct into repeatable processes.
They standardize thinking.
That’s how industries mature.

Look at African leaders today.
They solve problems textbooks haven’t named:
Mobile money. Informal economies. Infrastructure leapfrogging.

Yet most wisdom remains trapped.
In meetings. Voice notes. Memories.
We wait for retirement. For the right time. For credibility.
Meanwhile, industries move forward without our frameworks.

The Uncomfortable Truth

Leadership that isn’t documented eventually disappears.
Your ideas. Your insights. Your battle-tested tools.
They don’t belong in your head. They belong in a book.

Not next year. Not when things slow down.
Now.

Because books don’t just preserve legacies.
They shape industries.

At Paul Uduk’s Book Writing Clinic and Executive Legacy Blueprint, we guide leaders from idea to published authority.
We’ve seen leaders turn decades of experience into books that define markets.
We’ve helped over 350 aspiring authors in Africa transform their insights into published works that matter.

Why Writing Matters More Than Ever

A book is more than pages.
It’s a public declaration of expertise.
It’s the framework your industry can rely on.
It’s the blueprint future leaders will follow.

Books like Atomic Habits, Start With Why, and The Tipping Point didn’t just succeed.
They created ecosystems of influence.
Why?
Because the authors became their book’s loudest advocates.
Because they didn’t wait for recognition. They shaped the conversation.

Your book can do the same.
It can turn your private knowledge into public infrastructure.
It can make your industry move faster, smarter, and more efficiently.

How African Leaders Can Lead Through Writing

You face unique challenges.
Constraints others can’t see.
Solutions textbooks won’t capture.

Documenting these experiences:
Creates a reference others can follow.
Solidifies your authority in your field.
Converts your instinct into scalable frameworks.

At Paul Uduk Book Writing Clinic, leaders learn how to turn insights into influence.
From writing to publishing, we ensure your legacy reaches the right people.
We show leaders how to build books that outlive them and shape industries in the process.

Don’t Wait for Permission

Too many wait for the perfect moment.
The perfect audience.
The perfect timing.

The truth is there is no perfect moment.
The industry won’t wait. Your insights must lead now.
When leaders document their ideas, industries evolve.
When they don’t, industries stagnate or someone else fills the gap.

Your Ideas Deserve a Stage

Books are silent.
But a book on a stage becomes alive.
It commands attention.
It shapes thinking.
It creates movement.

James Clear didn’t just write Atomic Habits.
Simon Sinek didn’t just publish Start With Why.
Malcolm Gladwell didn’t just release The Tipping Point.

They turned books into platforms.
They became the voice.
They moved industries.

From Knowledge to Legacy

At Vision and Talent Press, we help leaders turn ideas into books.
At Book Writing Clinic Intensive, we guide experts to become authors in as little as 16 weeks.
From concept to manuscript to published authority, your legacy can begin today.
