ARE YOU READY TO BECOME A GLOBAL INFLUENCER? WRITE A BOOK.

Share:

The easiest way to become an global influencer is to write a book worth reading.

So, if I may ask, what are you doing to position yourself as a global influencer?

Again, what are you doing to position yourself as a global influencer?

Yes, Global Influencer “YOU”.

In 1997 Tom Peters wrote an article for Fast Company with the title BRAND YOU in which he talked about the need for every American to adopt the Benjamin Franklin ethic of entrepreneurship.

In 1999 Tom elaborated on the idea in his book BRAND YOU: 50 Ways to Transform Yourself From an “Employee” into a Brand That Shouts Distinction, Commitment and Passion.

If you believe you can’t make the global influencer status just yet, why not gun for a local Influencer or a KPI (Key Person of Influence)?

Who are the top (book) global influencers (excluding Nobel Laureates)? Here is my list:

1. JK Rowling

2. Malcolm Gladwell

3. Daniel Pink

4. Chimamanda

5. Alex Hormozi

6. Brendon Burchard

7. Tony Robbins

 (To mention seven).

About Peter Drucker, he was a legend, and despite writing over 35 books, is known more as a consultant than as an author, so he stands apart.

Tom Peters too. Tom is a living legend.

How did they all get to become global influencers?

What sets the top influencers apart is their IP (Intellectual Property). Through their IP they have been able to attract thousands, and in some cases, millions of followers.

If I may mention, IP is not only about books. It includes top rated Podcasts, YouTube Shows, Blogs, Signature Programs, Teachable Point of View (TPOV), etc.

And by the way, all the influencers mentioned above started with just one book.

Peter Drucker, according to Wikipedia, authored 39 books, including two novels, and an autobiography, The Adventures of a Bystander.

Tom Peters shot to stardom and global fame with his first book, In Search of Excellence (co-authored with Bob Waterman Jr.)

He went on to write many other iconic books, including Thriving On Chaos, The Passion For Excellence (with Nancy Austin), and his magnum opus, Liberation Management, an 834-page tom on the future of management.

Malcolm Gladwell’s Outlier, Tipping Point, What the Dog Saw, and David and Goliath, set him up as one of the greatest story-tellers of our time.

Between them, Chimamanda, Daniel Pink, Alex Hormozi, Brendon Burchard and Tony Robbins have over 18 books, including epics like Americanah, Free Agent Nation, $100M Leads, The Charge, and Unstoppable

JK Rowling is in a special class of her own. Her books have been adapted to epic movies, pushing her net worth to an estimated $1 billion.

Building IP is not a walk through the park. You have to put in the work. You work has to be ground breaking. And it has to be done at scale. As they say, no cross, no crown.

You can’t become a global influencer in one year or even 10 years. It took Peter Drucker over 60 years, and Tom Peters recently retired after 40 years in the trenches. And Tony Robbins has been at it for some 43 years and is still going strong.

You don’t go out to be an influencer. You do the work first and the world carves a niche for you if you’re worthy. Start in your small necks of the woods.

Most of us dissipate our energies and are everywhere and nowhere. We write to impress, and not to express. A fatal flaw.

We are John Maxwell Graduates. BWC Graduates. iBMC Graduates. UBC members. Politicians. Touts. Pimps. Errand boys, you name it, all in search of fame. Sadly fame does not happen that way. A rolling stone they say gathers no moss. This may be trite, but it’s true.

We release a 45-page book and hire a brass band. Sadly, this is not the way to go.

Note this, if you want to build an EMPIRE, focus on what empire builders do and model, copy, steal, until you become a master.

Pablo Picasso famously said, “Good artists copy, great artists steal.”

Do you believe in miracles? You are not alone. We all believe in miracles in this part of the world.

Our biggest industry and gift to the world, churches, say, “there is nothing God cannot do”, and we thunder Ameeeeeeeen.

But, God can’t lie.

We are told our miracle is on the way if only we can pray, pray and pray. For emphasis, you are admonished to pray until something happens. You’re told to believe, you’re the head and not the tail.

Yet, look at the sorry state of the most populous black nation on earth. A nation of over 200 million, designated the poverty capital of the world, which cannot generate up to 5,000 gigawatts of electricity for its citizens.

The small Republic of Ireland with a population of 5 million generate 5,585 GW.  Belgium with a population of 11.5million generates 79,831 GW.

Is God partial?

Heaven helps those who help themselves, the saying goes.

Yes, a nation that cannot feed its children is worse than all the infidels in the world put together.

In fact, it’s worse than SATAN himself.

Don’t wait. Take your destiny in your own hands and sally forth at dawn.

The *In-Ter-Net* is a leveler.

If you play the game the right way the algorithm will reward you. Yes, it takes time, but there is no discrimination.

Narrow your focus. Pull back from trite, pedantic, popular, featherweight activities and start engaging in stretch activities you can write home about. You will stand out, you’ll get noticed and one day you’ll be recognized as an Influencer or a Key Person of Influence (KPI) in your own right.

It’s said, in every field, many are called, but few are chosen. Will you be one of the few?

Let time be your judge.

Bon voyage.

Ka’aa di.

Meanwhile, if you believe it’s time you added value to the world at scale, why not get started the right way?
